What is SOPA and PIPA?

- PIPA – the Protect IP Act
- SOPA – the Stop Online Piracy Act
How Does This Affect You?
Blog Sites could be blocked or shut down - the internet will become a hunt for any possible copyright violation. These acts make it the blog owners responsibility for everything that is displayed on their site, including the comments of visitors.
Less Innovation - These acts are stopping developers from coming up with the next big thing in the online market that could change how we use the internet. If these acts were in affect when the internet was started many of the most popular sites would not have come into fruition. (No Facebook, YouTube, MediaFire, SoundCloud, Twitter, DropBox etc…) as any website can be targeted as a place where online piracy could take place.
Legal Action Over A Child Singing A Song - It is quite oblivious that none of the people on sites like YouTube have been given permission from record label execs to sing their favourite song, and then proceed to post it on a video sharing site.
The site the child will have posted the video on will be put under pressure to resolve this issue, or face their site being put on the blacklist. This child, and her family, could also very well face legal action with either the site or the record label the song that was sung has copyrighted.
The U.S. Government Hope They Will Spark Global Change – The U.S. government officials and private corporations aren’t only concerned about how these bills will work out in America, they are hoping that they will have the influence to get other nations to follow suit with these acts passing. That means if these acts pass, then the next country this could be coming toward may be yours.

Google Will Protest SOPA on its Homepage
Like many businesses, entrepreneurs and web users, we oppose these bills because there are smart, targeted ways to shut down foreign rogue websites without asking American companies to censor the Internet. So tomorrow we will be joining many other tech companies to highlight this issue on our US home page.
The winner of the 2011 Australian X-Factor is Reece Mastin
(according to Google Insights)
The finale of X-Factor Australia 2011 is on tonight and I pondered “Can Google Insights Predict the Winner of X-Factor Australia 2011?”
Of the 3 remaining contestants, only two of them have significant search popularity online.
Google AdWords – Local Australian Search Volumes

Google Search – Approx Number of Pages
Using the assumption that the most popular of the three should be the most discussed online also.
Google Returns the following search results (approx number of pages)

Google Insights
While Google Insights also reports that the majority of search traffic was for Reece Mastin there is a recent spike in interest for Johnny Ruffo.
Note - The ‘Rising Searches’ and ‘Top Searches’
X-Factor 2011 Google Search Volume
If the public opinion vote is accurate and search interest is similar to the number of votes a contestant receives then it looks as though Johnny Ruffo will just pip Reece Mastin for the 2011 X-Factor title (with an Andrew Wishart a clear 3rd place.
However, if Adwords historical search data is to be trusted then Reece Mastin should win.
Now lets look at Google Trends – The winner of the 2011 Australian X-Factor is Reece Mastin

But wait theres more, Social Media (like The Twitter and the Facespace!)

Facebook Stats
Reece Mastin:
25,840 like this
3,528 talking about this
Johnny Ruffo:
4,191 like this
1,422 talking about this
Andrew Wishart
4,310 like this
1,570 talking about this
The consensus appears to be Reece Mastin to win the competition despite some late Google Insights data indicating Johnny Ruffo.
Based on social media alone (Facebook) Reece will win and this is confirmed by Google Trends and the Google Keyword Tool.
Andre Wishart must have a strong off-line fan base of sms voters as his online trend and search performance is weak.
The winner of the 2011 Australian X-Factor is Reece Mastin

Manly Sea Eagles 2011 NRL Grand Final Winners
FACT #1 - No team has ever won the NRL Grand Final from outside the top four (under the McIntyre system).
In the 2011 season the Sea Eagles finished in second place where as the Warriors battled up from sixth.
FACT #2 - Battle of the coaches goes to Des Hasler (with the best hair in the competition) and his eight years of experience and 59% success rate. What becomes more convincing is Manly and Warriors have clashed on 10 occasions with the record reading 8-2 in favour of Des Hasler.
FACT #3 – NRL Rugby league matches are usually decided by the teams who score the most points while allowing their opponents the least amount of points. The entire 2011 NRL season, no team has scored more points than Manly who average 23.3 per game. Defensively the Sea Eagles were strong allowing on average just 13.6 points per game.
FACT #4 - The Manly Sea Eagles were also the second best side in the competition when it comes to missed tackles. Manly missed an average of 26.7 tackles per game in 2011 vs. the Warriors with 34.5 and the second worst in the competition.
FACT #5 – The historical game stats favor the Sea Eagles with Manly dominating 13 wins in 20 encounters (the Sea Eagles and Warriors first met back in 1995). For the Sea Eagles, that equates to an impressive 65% success rate against the NZ Warriors. For the Warriors, only one other team (St George Illawarra) has a greater winning record against them (77.8 per cent).
