Ben Cousins fans are in fever mode as they await the challenge of a lifetime.
The Inaugural Ben Cousins Biathlon is scheduled for Saturday the 12 of February 2011 and will see competitors retrace the be leagued footballer stars movement following his abandonment of girlfriend Samantha Druce and his car on the Canning Highway and doing the “booze bus bolt”.
Inaugural Ben Cousins Biathlon will feature a run and a swim (no bike leg) and will be a tough event for even the sober compatriots.
A Facebook group inviting people to participate has over 1,900 people pledging their allegiance to attending, with numbers increasing daily.
On 12 February 2006, Cousins fled a booze bus by abandoning his Mercedes-Benz and girlfriend Samantha Druce in the middle lane of Perth’s Canning Highway and running from police with a male passenger, The male passenger was later caught and breath-tested, but Cousins eluded the police. His intricate escape route was revealed on his recent documentary, and with careful retracing of his movements, Saturday the 12 of February 2011 will be the inaugural running of the Cousins Biathlon.
Yet again, Cousins is proving an inspiration for all the wrong reasons.
